  I reviewed my notes. The speaker's last name is something like Lau, Lowl. ??? It was hard to understand, but he is currently serving as the Circuit Overseer for Washington Circuit #1.

The speaker first starts with what he called the "alphabet soup" of degrees....A.A., B.A., M.A., Ph.D., etc.; he said they were nothing more than "sheepskins on the wall." One of his closing comments was that at Armageddon, educated people will be able to add a few more letters after their names...D.E.A.D. ....ah...yes, everyone laughed and clapped. How very Christian.

  I'm sure "the Christ" was proud, but I suspect Christ was not pleased at all by his comments.

  Your limits on pet sleeping quarters!!!!

  i know you are all tired of hearing from me about dogs, but i need help.. our one dobie sleeps where he is suppose to after being tucked in, kissed, and his head laid down on a pillow.

  his older brother after experiencing the same, after about an hour, quietly gets up and sneaks down the hall way, begging to get into bed with us.. here is the problem, the boys are 100 pounds each.

  when the older one sneaks in he promptly lays down between us with his head on the pillows.

  Our 16 year old dog dog (only 15 lbs) sleeps (and has always slept) in our bed, anywhere he wants. We cancelled the appointment tomorrow we had scheduled to put him to sleep. He is doing a little bit better, but I suspect he has only 1-2 more weeks left.

  I would give anything to have more snuggle time in bed with him; he is sooooo cute and cozy. Do whatever makes you feel good.

  I don't think most Witnesses know the official line on this, if called on it,

  I don't accept it; frankly put, I think the FDS is wrong. I had the distinct joy of "correcting" a brother's answer in our bookstudy several months ago. He was going on and on about what Jesus has done for us and that he is a mediator for the whole world and especially us. This guy was on a roll, and he continued for about 3 minutes.

  I answered that the official position of JW is that Jesus is NOT the mediator of the GC, only the annointed. I said that each person needed to go home and research the subject for themselves. It brought a little "life" to an otherwise boring meeting.

  So, apparently the story of the Armenian father is true, except for one very important piece. No one "mocked" the father. The situation looked very grim, and some people told the father that there could not possibly be any survivors. That is a far cry from "mocking" him. The story is part of a book sold at Christian book stores. I wonder how the GB found out about this story??????? :)

  Really Now - NO Treachery?

  was it an article in the 15 july 2006 watchtower wherein it is stated that jehovah, jesus christ, the holy spirit and the loving spiritual shepherds would not permit treachery to occur within the christian congregation?

  if so, why have my jws been defrauded and deceived - with wt sanction, some cases being brought to their attention - with regard to large sums of money, not to mention other assorted atrocities?

  It was very hard to sit through this Watchtower study (really, they are ALL hard to sit through). This whole article was trying to explain away the errors of the GB. You'll just love this paragraph:

  Stop college or keep plugging on?...opinions please.

  here's my situation...i'm doing college online because i can't very well do college the traditional way with a 2 year old.

  anyway, my computer has been acting really funny and it's not reliable anymore.

  my ex worked on it for almost 4 hours and the darn thing still crashes saying my "virtual" memory is too low.

  If you are in the U.S., have you actually met with a student advisor at a 4 year college? You may qualify for more assistance than your know, perhaps enough to enable to you work less, or not at all, and concentrate on your studies.

  And, hopefully you have researched the job market for the degree that you are pursuing. At the end, you want to make sure you are highly employable. A degree in English Literature is not going to get you the same amount of job offers as...say...a degree in Accounting.

  due to the fact there are about 27,000 members of this religion that are known pedophiles, and the information about it is kept in a secret database file, i wonder how many lurking jw's as well as others are aware of the severity of this problem?

  remember, it's 27,000 pedophiles that they know about.

  what about the thousands that don't get caught?

  Yes, decades ago. Now, we can piece together his history. He was molesting when he began studying (his sisters). He was molesting after being baptized (me.) He was molesting as a ministerial servant (my oldest niece). He was molesting as an elder (my oldest neice still.) He was molesting as one of the youngest Presiding Overseers even appointed in our area (my youngest neice.)

  Several years later, I ran into an elder from his congregation. We were chatting about people we both knew from years ago. He asked about him; I told this elder that he had sexually abused me and many of my family members.

  He wasn't shocked at all. He calmly replied, "We always wondered about that." I knew then that there must have been victims in the congregation-at-large, or else why would the elder body have "wondered." Up until then, I thought he was active only amongst family members.
